lyrics
we’ve made our minds up
and there’s a price to pay
you can deceive everybody
but you’ve gotta lie in the bed that you make
oh, you buy yourself the privilege of authority
through which you tell us how to think
and show us what to be
without the slightest regard
for the psychopath you are
you’re not human
you’re a monster and a leech
oh, you say that you love me
where are the promises you made
where are our consciences these days
we bet our last good dollar on a dead horse
you can watch a total system failure from your front porch
can’t push me around
keepin’ up that story with the same old line
even though you never justify
what you do but you keep us wanting
where are the promises you made
where are our consciences these days
we’ve made our minds up
and there’s a price to pay
you can deceive everybody
but you’ve gotta lie in the bed that you make
what do you take me for
everything that i wanted
everything that i need
I started listening to KLO during the pandemic and found great comfort in her music. This album in particular gave me the feeling of having space while simultaneously being trapped indoors (and will also forever be tied to memories of the many hours I spent trying to beat my high score on Dr. Mario on my Gameboy Advance SP while listening to it). I'm still new to ZJ, and have been going through the albums backwards. The inner strength, that transpires from all the songs, is so powerful, and compelling and beautiful. One of my favorite artists. Sylvia Solanas
